Well, such is the state of the world that I feel that we owe the listeners some sort of enforced atmosphere of calm, at least while they're listening to us this week.

I don't know. Tim can't join us because he's got a lot of meetings today.

But so much has happened since we last met and discussed the situation in Iran, that we really sort of

probably need to take stock, don't we, before we get on later in the podcast to the backwash

in British politics and all of the very interesting positioning that's going on in terms of

where the UK relates to America and to the crisis in the

Middle East and to the economic consequences, which are considerable at this point. Now then, Steve,

I'm going to come to you first because as our listeners will know by now, you like nothing better

than staying up all night watching Donald Trump on YouTube.

But you didn't even have to look him up on YouTube last night because we're recording on Tuesday because as we in the UK were trying to go to bed and have pleasant dreams, he gave the most extraordinary set of statements.

What did you make of it because it's over, but it's not over.

The objectives, whatever they were, have been met, except they're not quite met.

We don't even, you know, celebrating the fact that the entire sort of top echelon of the Iranian regime is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is

except that the new guy who America has no hope of dialogue with, you know, has now been
