And there are a variety of questions, of course. Today we're addressing one that I think is very,

very important because of the emphasis that Jesus placed upon it. And that is the subject of baptism.

That's my conviction that only believers should be baptized.

You find this in Scripture.

In fact, in the Great Commission, the Lord Jesus commanded his followers to go into all the world,

to teach the gospel, to baptize new believers in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, and then to teach them again.

He's a God of perfect order. You can't change the order. So the teaching of the gospel and the

receiving of the gospel must precede the act of baptism. This is why we do not practice infant baptism. In fact, we refer to

baptism as believers baptism. And I think this is so important that we use the word of God,

truth over tradition, to define this subject as we do all other subjects.

I want to take you to a portion of scripture today that I think is a great summary passage and illustrative of the truth that we're discussing.

It's found in Acts chapter 8 when Philip the evangelist was witnessing to the eunuch

and giving him the gospel. And I love the fact that when this Ethiopian man

believed on Christ, immediately he wanted to be baptized. He had just come from Jerusalem. He had seen

ceremonial cleansings and washings, but undoubtedly he had heard that these followers of Jesus

practiced baptism.

And he says in Acts chapter 8, when they came unto a certain water, the eunuch said,
