His scholarship focuses on the ways in which advances in technology have impacted the labor market from the industrial revolution to the present.

Otter joins me to discuss which jobs are most at risk from new technologies, why he's optimistic that AI can help revitalize the middle class, and whether the very notion of human expertise will have value going forward.
