This is Irish Illustrated Insider.

It is a college football season at the crossroads.

It started with the Mid-American Conference bowing out over the weekend.

But the key point here is the Power 5s.

And the Power 5 commissioners gathered on Sunday and it sounds like there's a really

good possibility, certainly with the Big 10 and Pac-12 that this season is going to be put on hold.

Yeah, I think up until this, I went to bed last night figuring it was going to be put on hold

by Wednesday or Thursday. False hope,

of course, is what I probably have this morning when just seeing a tweet from Matt Hayes,

senior college football writer from SB Nation, noting that he received word from a athletic director

from the Power 5, that it looks like it's the ACC, Big 12, and SEC against those two conferences.

I don't dispute the validity of his text, but the notion is what we don't know.

I don't know if that's really going to be something.

Can the ACC, Big 12, and SEC play football?

Realistically, will they do that if the Big Ten and Pac-12 canceled him?

I think, well, I think the SEC is going to play virtually under any circumstances.

And if you can get the ACC and the Big 12 to join them, yes.

I mean, certainly from our perspective, as long as the ACC plays, we have something to report

on, but you need those other two conferences just to add validity to the entire season. You know, my notion over the weekend was, okay, the Macs, the Mac, it's a group of

five. And when one of the power five conferences goes, that's when it comes to an end. I still

basically believe that. But again, you know, the SEC is bound and determined. And I don't know if the

ACC and Big 12 are as, quote, bound and determined. You know, there's some other factors involved
