This is Irish Illustrated Insider, the August 13th edition, the day after Nordame opens football

camp officially. I'm Tim Priester with Tim O'Malley from Irish Illustrated. And joining us today,

Pete Sampson from the athletic. The days of, at least in the year of the pandemic,

the days of us attending as many practices as we did in the preseason

are behind us, at least for this year,

or at least until they get into the stadium.

So Wednesday is kind of a body count for us,

and we'll go over that.

Nordheim's COVID testing.

By and large, still positive, but nine players, two tested positive, seven due to contact or out of practice.

And we move forward. We're doing body counts, guys. I mean, we're going through pictures

and the video provided by Notre Dame and

jotting down numbers to see exactly who is out there.

It's difficult because it's, I mean, Notre Dame, I think, has been somewhat celebrated as a

success story for how the football program managed the pandemic and testing over the summer. But to be a success story and then

lose nine players for first practice is challenging. I mean, I think it just speaks to what

kind of needle you're trying to thread here to play college football in the fall. It's just

it's a real challenge. This is going to be unlike anything that we've ever

covered before and hopefully it will be unlike anything we ever cover again. Hey, I was,

no matter how much you're celebrated, that it hadn't, they hadn't left their self-created

bubble. And as soon as they're 17 or 18 freshmen in a dorm and other people

going through dorms and other people even I mean you don't want to believe at all on dorms other
