Mayo, have you tried the hold assist feature in iOS 26 yet?

You know what? I actually haven't.

I've been thinking about it this week because for very unexciting reasons, I've had to call

like the DMV in Maryland, my insurance company, the IRS, the revenue department in Maryland

and Michigan. I've been on the phone a lot and I've been on hold a lot.

The problem that I've had with it, though, is like, in so many of these instances,

it's so hard to get through like the phone tree and get to like the human that you want to talk to.

So when you're put on hold, I'm too scared to turn on hold assist, right?

Because what if I don't see the notification that the hold has been, that there's a

human waiting for me now?

What if it just doesn't work and I don't get that notification?

Then I have to go through all of the hold, all of the phone tree stuff again.

It's such a good feature in theory, but I've just been too scared to use it.

So I'm wondering if anybody listening has tried it and if it's been good for you and if it's

worked for you, because it's just the thing that if it goes wrong, it's going to make me so

mad.

You've got to restart over with another seven layers of questionnaire.

Calling all of those people and organizations and whatever is already such a painful and frustrating process.

Yeah.

I mean, I presume it works well enough because we haven't really heard of like backlash about it.

But I'm trying to think if I've actually needed to be on hold since the 26th page has come up.

I think probably like once or twice, but I just didn't use the hold assist.
