For the past few weeks, Dan has been talking with friends and colleagues about passages of

scripture that intrigue and inspire them. This week, Dan is joined by Dr. Craig Detweiler,

president of the Seattle School to talk about the transfiguration narrative in Luke

9 and about how we respond to moments of divine beauty.

Well, it's been a while since I've been with my boss on this lovely podcast world, but I get to be with Craig that while or again.

But what I want to do is talk about scripture. And what I ask Craig to do is to pick a scripture that he's been pondering for a season and let me join him

in what he's learned and also where it takes us to. So, Greg, good to be with you and tell me

what you want to talk about. I've spent a lot of time meditating and studying, reading, reflecting, researching on Luke

Chapter 9, the Transfiguration, which in the Catholic tradition, Orthodox tradition,

is really viewed as a very major event, you know, between, say, baptism and crucifixion.

It's kind of this turning point.

There's a midpoint.

There's a reason why it's in the middle of Luke's Gospel.

It's a foretaste of glory divine.

It's a preview of who Jesus is, as their disciples are still trying to figure that out.

But I've ended up focusing on it, I think, because of the longing that I see in our

culture for transfiguration in our lives.

We wouldn't use those words.

We might use transformation.

We might even use augmentation.

But I see so many efforts to kind of
