The Michael Vary Show is on the air. starting in the next segment so in about 15 minutes.

I will spend the rest of the show interviewing a man by the name of Johnny Bowden.

He has written a book called The Great Cholesterol Myth where he argues that studying cholesterol levels is the wrong way

to go about heart healthiness and that in order to manage cholesterol levels, doctors are prescribing

statins when that's not necessary and that cholesterol is the wrong thing to measure and

he goes through. I want to be very clear he is not a medical doctor. He started life

as a nutritionist and then he went back and got a degree and then a master's degree and then a PhD.

So I think more than anything else to silence people when he makes statements. I don't think you even need any degree in order to

read and study and experiment and have opinions. But then again, I don't believe that a degree gives you absolute authority on a subject.

People will often say, Michael, as a lawyer, can Trump do this?

That means you didn't go to law school and you don't understand how this works.

Going to school and studying a subject does not to begin with make you an

expert on the subject. It makes you a person perhaps who may have an understanding of the framework of that particular discipline,

but even that can be suspect.

There are plenty of people with whom I agree on how particular cases should be determined before the Supreme Court

and they don't have law degrees and I have two and there are plenty of people who have law

degrees who I think are absolute whack.

So I'm not a big one for the whole, the law degree is everything school.

Nor am I a person that believes you needed to go through medical school 30 years ago to have an opinion
