worth living. We get into networking, intentional relationships, tax strategies, and even the

0:13.3

role of AI in the future of business. If you're looking to scale without losing yourself in the

0:18.1

process, you'll get a lot out of this one. Let's get into it. Jess, why are people poor? I think a lot of people subconsciously just don't even want to be rich. They're not willing to work for it. They're not willing to get creative about it. They think they want to be rich, but like there's just so much generational trauma and all this other stuff that holds people back from being able to get out of

0:39.1

the bad habits that would make them rich. Right. And just, I mean, you're, you correct me of

0:44.8

wrong here, but on money-wise, I think you said net worth roughly is $500 million, right? And so,

0:49.9

but you didn't come from money at the end of the day, right? Yeah. Well, I give you a little bit of

background. I grew up in New York and my mom's an entrepreneur and my dad was an engineer. He worked at Sloan Kettering. Oh, wow. And yeah, so he was there for 45 years and he came here as an immigrant when he was eight. My mom came here as an immigrant when she was in her 20s. So your parents did well.

But when I was born, my parents weren't rich at all.

1:16.6

They were just pretty, you know, typical immigrant, you know, living in a small apartment

1:22.6

in New York City.

1:23.6

I was born.

1:24.6

And then as I grew up, I saw that my mom was making lots and lots of money.

1:28.9

And then by the time I was in high school, like, it was very clear to me that she was

1:33.7

very well off, like very wealthy, very successful.

1:37.3

And I just studied her.

1:39.5

I copied her, just her mindset around money and business. I think that was the biggest thing I got from her. Because she didn't leave me with a trust fund. I would have loved a trust fund. Yeah. But I didn't get a trust fund. Yeah. But what I got was I saw how she was not frugal on a lot of things. A lot of the BS you see on the internet, like Mr. Money and Mustache,

2:02.1

I'm sure he's a great guy. I feel bad. But like, that's not the mindset of being successful.

2:07.5

That's like a very conservation type of energy, like scarcity mindset. Like I got to save every penny

2:14.0

versus the Ramit Sethi. I will teach you to be rich mindset of like, hey, we're
