Summary

Hank Hanegraaff, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answer Man broadcast, comments on a horrendous Maryland state senate bill that would have condoned infanticide. Senator William Smith forwarded Senate Bill 669, dubbed “Pregnant Person’s Freedom Act of 2022,” which would have allowed “perinatal death related to a failure to act”—in other words, infanticide days after birth. This is believed to be progressive—forward thinking—but if you know your history, you will be well aware of just how regressive it is. Think back to Nero in the first century—when female babies were allowed to expire at the statue of Caesar. Why? They were considered to be expendable, just as we today are beginning to consider not just pre-born but born children to be expendable if you don’t want them. The West has turned in a very dark direction, and it is up to Christians to stand in the midst of evil. Life is the foundation of human civilization. Abraham Kuyper well said, “When principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then battle is your calling, and peace has become sin; you must, at the price of dearest peace, lay your convictions bare before friend and enemy alike, with all the fire of your faith.”

This is Senate Bill 669, and it's dubbed not pregnant women's Freedom Act of 2022,

1:04.2

but pregnant persons freedom act of 2022.

1:11.5

Why?

1:18.6

Well, because in the eyes of the culture and now in the eyes of the law as well, it is no longer only women who can give birth to babies.

1:23.6

We once saw that as the exclusive province of women.

1:30.3

Now we have degraded women such that we don't look at that unique and beautiful capacity in females, but we now have made this a broader capacity,

1:49.5

the capacity of pregnant persons. All of this, of course, is believed to be progressive. It's

2:00.0

thought to be forward thinking. But if you know your history,

2:07.0

you will be well aware of just how regressive all of this is. I mean, think back to Nero in the first century,

2:18.8

where female babies were allowed to expire

2:23.3

at the statue of a Caesar.

2:28.7

Why? Because they were considered expendable, just as we are now considering not just

2:40.0

just pre-born children, but born children to be expendable if you don't want them.

2:50.0

We call Putin evil.

2:55.6

But perhaps a look in the mirror would do us all some good.

3:04.6

The West has turned in a very, very dark direction.

3:13.3

And it is up to Christians to stand.

3:17.3

To stand in this moment of time because the church is oftentimes silent in the midst of evil.
