Summary

What can we say about infant baptism based just on the Bible? This video is a survey through a bunch of key passages that relate to the topic. I present it as an issue that we should not divide over but an issue that is worth examining biblically and talking about. We will be looking at the "household" baptisms in Acts, and the idea that a parallel between circumcision and baptism means we should baptize infants. We'll also examine the New Testament nature of baptism since this relates to the idea of baptizing infants. Here's the link to my very long debate on whether baptism saves or not. Time stamps on this video will help you navigate it. https://youtu.be/x2TfBVNuuY8 If you love this ministry and would like to partner by supporting it please click below. https://biblethinker.org/index.php/donate BibleThinker mugs are available here. 0:35.9

Number one we're going to go through who did get baptized and under what conditions or who was baptism for in the new testament specifically looking at passages.

0:45.0

Then we're going to, for number two, we're going to look at household baptisms.

0:49.0

That is passages in the scripture that talk about whole households being baptized and the question we have is

0:54.5

does this give us a case for infant baptism then we'll look at probably one of

1:00.8

the stronger cases for infant baptism there is which is the case

1:04.6

or I should maybe I should say I say stronger it's like you know prominent well

1:09.0

respected teachers I respect put forward this case the idea is that baptism is kind of parallel to

1:14.9

circumcision in some ways and since circumcision is for infants, baptism should be

1:19.3

for infants too. So we'll look at that for number three, number four, We'll just look at some other verses people use that are kind of uncategorized, but they weigh in and they definitely are important to talk about.

1:28.0

And then five, I'll give you a brief word on church history and some people try to win this whole argument with just

1:34.3

church history and I'm going to give a brief word kind of a warning against that sort of reasoning.

1:39.4
