Hi, this is Lily DeHoya Sanderson, and this is an extra podcast episode in the Choosing Glory podcast because I wanted to respond to what has become kind of a social media firestorm amongst members of the church.

People who are at least checking out on social media and so on.

And I don't stay in touch very well, but I do have children who do, and I am so grateful for them because they keep me informed and ask my opinion about things that are happening.

Caitlin was the one who brought this to my attention yesterday when it happened.

I am sorry if this response seems a little slow. I know it's quick to become old news sometimes, but I still wanted to respond. There were two things that happened yesterday, two posts that dropped. One was the official Church of Jesus Christ of Lottad of the Saints' Instagram account. And this one did ignite a lot of discussion,

and honestly, a lot of it was not kind on either side of the debate that ensued. And here we have

just heard our prophet, President Oakes, remind us to be peacemakers and to love our enemies. And

sometimes you hear this back and forth

and you think, like, is there a Christian in the house? Like, is there a Christian in the house?

Anyway, the post on Instagram that was on the official church website was a youngish husband who,

we don't know if he had kids or not, he didn't talk about that, but he talked about meeting his wife

and she had a burning desire to be a

pediatric neurologist. And so he ended up supporting her. And he doesn't really have a clear

direction for a career himself, it sounded like, but he felt that it was really important to

support her. And that was kind of the message.

Okay.

I mean, okay.

It's not something for us to condemn.

I think it hit a nerve, and I think what really hit a nerve was that it was the same day that another post was dropped on whatever social media

platform that was called the best of BYU. So it's like an official channel or something,

anyway, something that they do regularly, it sounds like. I don't follow it, so I don't have the details, but it's the best of BYU.

And it was a married woman with two children named Jessica Doberneck, and she gave her
