So over the weekend I found myself backing the water, doing a little bit of surfing

and it's something I've missed a lot over the recent months, not being able to necessarily

go to the beach with everything shut down.

I found myself in the water and a number of other people out there surfing.

And as I sat out there, I was watching different people and the different level of effort

that was going into surfing.

If you've ever tried surfing, you'll know that it's a fairly steep learning curve.

Well, it doesn't really matter how long you've been doing it.

I feel like it's just one of those things that just takes a long time to learn and there

are so many different things I'm sure there are things in your life that you'll have

tried and that just seem to take a little bit longer to learn.

And the thing that I really noticed as I was watching these different surfers was that

for some it seemed to come incredibly easily, but no real effort and it was a combination

of their technique and their position in the water, all kinds of different things.

And then for others, it felt like and looked like a real struggle and I'm sure I was

one of those.

But as I looked at those, it reminded me of this journey that we all go on in learning

a new skill.

I feel like in the world of mindfulness, meditation, training the mind so often we talk about this

idea of effortlessness and not kneeling to apply any effort.
