Hello, and welcome to the Byron Workshop, the leadership chat podcast.

We'd like to get right into it, and what we're going to get into today is a split screen

moment, an incredible contrast for the Republican Party.

Now you know what's going on in the House of Representatives in Washington.

You know, as we speak, it's not resolved, we'll talk about it more when it is.

But on Tuesday, there were two contrasting realities of the present day Republican Party on

display.

There was what was going on in the House chamber, where 20 members of what's summer calling

the chaos caucus of the Republican Party blocked the efforts of 202 fellow Republicans

to elect Kevin McCarthy as a speaker.

This move led to a once in a century standoff had not happened since 1923.

It paralyzed the House.

Members cannot be sworn in.

Communities cannot be formed.

Lawmakers can't do any work until the deadlock is broken, who knows when that's going

to be.

So that's what's going on in Washington and very specifically in the House chamber.

Now at the same time, the same actual moment in Tallahassee, Florida, Ron DeSantis, the

newly reelected governor, Florida, took the oath of office for a second term with a speech

that you should listen to, a ringing statement of accomplishment and ambition and focus that

could well, could well be the foundation of a 2024 run for president.
