Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Welcome back. It's so great to be with you today. Let's dig right in 2 Timothy chapter 2.

Paul urges Timothy to be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and to pass on the truth to faithful individuals who will continually teach others.

He uses illustrations of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer to highlight discipline, endurance,

and hard work in ministry. Just as he does, Paul reminds Timothy to endure hardship for the

gospel's sake. He emphasizes the importance of avoiding quarrels and ungodly talk which only lead to

more harm. Instead, he should study and learn the

word of God. Timothy is instructed to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, and to correct

opponents with gentleness and hopes that God may lead them to repentance. The chapter focuses on

enduring, faithful teaching, and a life that reflects the saving mission of

Jesus Christ. I want you to think on that today. Do not get distracted. Religious people have a bad

habit of having religious arguments that don't help anyone and may even get in the way of carrying

out the mission of teaching people about Jesus.

That's the hard work, and that's where we need to be putting our attention.

So let's look at an application paragraph on that.

The Christian life is filled with the grace of God.

Therefore, it must be marked by endurance, discipline, and devotion.
