Welcome to our new project, the Daily Bible Devotional. The goal is to help you understand and apply

scripture as you go through a New Testament Bible read five days a week, Monday through Friday,

as we move from Matthew straight through to Revelation. In under four minutes each morning, we will recap the chapter,

make some application, present thought questions for the day, and offer a prayer together.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to follow along with me in our daily Bible reading.

We are in 2 Timothy chapter 3.

Here's some thoughts from the chapter.

Timothy is warned that difficult times will come in the last days.

People will become lovers of self, money, and pleasure rather than lovers of God.

They will appear religious, but will deny the true

power of godliness. Sadly, they will progress from bad to worse. Paul urges Timothy to avoid such

individuals, especially those who deceive others while resisting the truth. He reminds Timothy

that persecution is a reality for all who desire to live

godly lives in Christ Jesus. However, Timothy is encouraged to remain steadfast in what he has

learned, holding firmly to the scriptures that have shaped his faith since childhood. Paul affirms

that all scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, correcting, and training

in righteousness, equipping believers for every good work. Paul was talking about the Old Testament

scriptures at that time, and if it's true that that's inspired by God to train those believers,

how much more so these beautiful letters written by inspired men sent out by Jesus.

We live in a world that often values self above truth. Some hold to a form of godliness but are led

by the adversary. We must remain alert to the attitudes and behaviors Paul warns against,
