Hello, here's a funny thing. It's actually more interesting this morning than it has been for ages.

The European Union's offer, Donald Tusk's offer, of a 12-month extension, which would end

immediately if we pass the withdrawal agreement,

is an astonishing climb down by the commission in many ways. I don't even think I should use the word

climb down. It's an incredibly generous offer. It robs them of the power of the timing, the,

you know, the cliff edge, the cut-off point. Essentially, Donald Tusker said to Theresa

May this morning, take as long as you want and as soon as you've done it, we'll crack on.

Theresa May has responded by asking again for something that has already been repeatedly refused.

Why? Well, presumably because she thinks she may be able to cling on to power with her

own party cross about an extension until the end of June as opposed to an extension of 12 months.

But of course, she's wrong again. Because certain corners of her party are now furious about

everything. Let's get three things up first this morning, shall we?

I'm only going to talk about Brexit for an hour, even if the switchboard is absolutely rammed with people waiting to have their say.

Because I think we'd be going around in circles. This is, this is for me, one of those days where things have got more interesting than they have been in weeks, and yet in some sense, my appetite seems to be

diminishing, because, well, very obviously, you continue to find yourself dealing with people

who, can one put this nicely, don't really know what democracy means.

Democracy does not just mean counting.

Democracy has various prerequisites and demands, not least of which is an informed electorate.

If electorate is uninformed, then the strength of a democratic mandate is diluted.

If nobody voted for something that ends up being delivered under the claim of a

democratic mandate, then democracy is actually being subverted and nobody voted to leave the European
