Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Who am I?

What is my reason for living?

And what do I find my identity?

Almost everyone tries to find their identity, their self-worth, in the wrong things, myself-in-

included. We think it's found in our health, or success in our professions, winning the game,

something we've built. It could be our marriage or children. It could even be a ministry that saves lives or saves souls.

These are all good, but when we see our identity and self-worth in some thing, then we have an idol. The idol then becomes an addiction to which we are

enslaved and prevents us from receiving God. So we have blockages. God does not want us enslaved to idols. He wants us free to receive

him. That is why it is good.

And I emphasize good that everything passes.

Kids grow up and move on.

Trust me, you don't want them to fail to launch. We accomplish things and then

they're done. And eventually we retire, younger people take our positions, we grow old,

our health fails, and we die. And God willing, we go to heaven where the great

adventure never ends. But in his mercy God must strip us of our idols first. Of all those

things in which we wrongly found our identity, he strips us so that he can give us our true identity to share in his

divine life and his great adventure forever.
