Summary

In this episode, I’m joined by Joanna O’Brien, a mother of five who spent over 30 years building a life based on faith and sacrifice, only to discover a reality she never could have imagined. After navigating a marriage marked by gaslighting and emotional abuse, Joanna was hit with the ultimate series of "red flags": massive tax debt, financial ruin, and a betrayal that hit close to home. Joanna opens up about the brutal transition from being a stay-at-home mom to finding herself in her 50s, starting over from scratch with limited resources and a stolen sense of security.  Thank you for listening!   www.StephanieLynLifeCoaching.com   Find us on YouTube Channel: www.YouTube.com/StephanieLynCoaching   👉 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stephanielyncoach 👉 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stephanielyncoaching 👉 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@stephanielyncoaching

Hey everyone. Welcome back to the podcast. I'm excited for today's guest, Joanna O'Brien. She was

0:05.8

married for over three decades. She was a stay-at-home mom, a mom of five. She was dedicated to

0:11.3

her family, her husband, her faith, her life. But beneath all of that, she was really living

0:16.4

an absolute nightmare between the gaslighting, emotional abuse, and honestly, a devastating financial

0:22.1

betrayal dealing with affairs, cheating. This was a huge loss where she even lost her family home.

0:29.2

And now in her 50s, Joanna is navigating the raw reality of rebuilding her life and

0:34.2

finding her identity from scratch and starting all over like so many of us have to do.

0:39.8

We're going to talk about a lot of the things that have helped her to rebuild.

0:45.1

And this is an important conversation because when we all go through these experiences,

0:49.9

really painful breakups, really difficult divorces. There's a rebuilding phase that needs to happen

0:54.8

more so later on in life when there's no distractions anymore. And now it's just you and learning

1:00.9

who you are again from maybe for the very first time and having to really rebuild yourself.

1:06.0

So I want to thank Joanna for being brave, taking the time and doing this podcast with me. So I hope you

1:11.4

enjoy. Joanna, thank you for joining me. I'm excited to have a chat. We were just literally

1:16.9

going off on a tangent, you guys. And I was like, okay, we need to actually really start this

1:21.1

podcast because we were having about, we're about to go into a really good combo there.

1:25.3

And we were talking about the importance of, I guess,

1:28.4

talking to each other. You know, that is one of the good things with social media and the

1:32.6

internet and stuff like that nowadays. If this would have been 30 years ago, you would have

1:36.3

really felt alone that you were going through this. And divorce, I mean, hell, even maybe 40 years

1:41.9

ago, maybe divorce wasn't as common as it is unfortunately nowadays but

1:45.8

it's not even the divorce it's what when what happened in the relationship right so and i was telling
