0:00.0 | Thanks for listening to my call of the day podcast. You can hear my live radio program Monday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. Eastern time on serious XM. |
0:10.0 | Try and 11 Lisa. Welcome to the program. Hi Dr. Laura. Yeah, I have a dilemma and I hope you can help me. So I'm 46. My husband and I just relocated to Tennessee with our 13 year old triplets. |
0:28.0 | And my son, you know, we came for various reasons, but we really wanted him to kind of have this as a first start to like make, you know, some good friends because his friend that he had his best friend where we were, you know, there were just some differences that we weren't super excited about. |
0:49.0 | And so when we got here at this year, this school year, he's kind of chosen poorly to say bluntly. And so now he's interested in taking violin, which I'm excited about because there's, I think, nicer kids in that in the violin class. |
1:11.0 | But my daughter, who's, you know, his triplet sister has been in violin for two years. And because they spend so much time together, she, they have a great relationship, but she just really wants that for herself. And she doesn't want him. |
1:29.0 | She just kind of wants to have it, you know, it's her thing because she just wants, you know, that one class. It's her favorite class and she wants to have it where she just has that separation. So I'm kind of torn because I think it would be good for him to do violin and to be around good kids. |
1:46.0 | But I also understand her perspective of meeting a little space. |
1:58.0 | Okay, you sit with her quietly somewhere where you're alone with her. Take her for a nice walk and say, I've got to ask you to help me save your brother. |
2:08.0 | And if the violin for who knows how long a month, a week, a decade, will help him straighten out his life. Please help me. Let him have it. |
2:22.0 | It's not a competition. Yeah. It's not a competition. I need you to help me save him. If you frame it like that, I almost guarantee that she will back off. |
2:39.0 | And tell her, you know, maybe sometimes you could show him a few things. |
2:45.0 | Yeah, you need to help him get up to speed. |
2:51.0 | If you could help him, not get up to speed, just help him. Okay. |
2:58.0 | Yeah, that would really be. Hey, you're doing good, even if he sucks completely. |
3:04.0 | No, yeah, I'm proud that you're working hard. This is your love, sweet daughter, but this may save him. |
3:15.0 | And you don't have to give up your love. He doesn't love it like you do. He needs this. So please help me. |
3:26.0 | Okay, that's perfect. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. Very welcome. And I said almost guarantee because I don't know how sweet a girl she is. If she's a really sweet girl, she'll dreamily sweet. |
3:41.0 | Okay, now I can guarantee it and say there are other ways you can have your own space. |
3:49.0 | What are some other ways she could have her own space? She has her own room, right? |
3:55.0 | She, we're actually just moving into a house we've been renovating, but we're moving in like this week. And I've been decorating it for her and making it really cute. And so. |
4:05.0 | Point out to how you have your own space. This is your room. |
4:10.0 | The brothers cannot come in here without your permission. |
