Today I'm going to talk about weight loss because I recognize that for so many,

this is a prime motivation, a prime motivator to get out and exercise, to walk,

to make that fitness commitment, to make that fitness promise, and to walk every day.

There's a genetic component to it, which is not insignificant.

And I've always been a thin guy.

When I was growing up, I was a skinny kid.

I've been slender, you know, lean.

Lean is the muscular version. I'm not sure that I've ever

I've ever reached lean, but I've always been thin. But that doesn't mean that I can do whatever I

want and there are absolutely no weight consequences. And I discovered this in my 40s because for much of my young adulthood,

there really, it didn't feel like, there were those consequences to poor nutrition and a lack of

consistent and intentional exercise.

But by the time I reached middle age,

things were changing and I was starting to gain weight

and the way that I gain weight is around my middle.

So I've still got these thin arms, thin legs,

and an expanding middle.

And this was not a look that I aspired to. And that along with not feeling

as well as I had been. I've mentioned this before. I think it was blood sugar issues. There's a little

bit of diabetes history in my family. So the weight gain and not feeling the way I wanted to feel was motivation

to begin exercising to start moving with intentionality. And within a few months, I felt better. And

that weight gain around the middle had disappeared. And it like okay this this works and that was good
