Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

There are some things that really grieve the Lord, and in our study in Acts chapter 5, we are seeing that

one of those things is hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is being two-faced. It is pretending to be something

that you are not. There were a couple of hypocrites in our study named Ananias and Safira, and the

Lord dealt with them swiftly swiftly as both of them were

killed. On our last program, we learned that God does this sometimes to make a point with us so that

we remember the lesson. As we join our teaching today, we are looking at an Old Testament example

of the same thing. With our study, here now is Pastor John.

But the Lord miraculously gave them that city. You know the story as they marched around

and let out a shout and the walls came down and there was a great victory. But you see, the Lord said,

when I give you that victory, don't take anything from the city, consecrate it,

dedicate it to me. Don't spoil it. Don't plunder it. Just let it sit as a sacrifice and

offering to me. Other cities you can spoil.

Other goods you can get, but let that city be for me.
