Israeli strikes have killed hundreds of people in Gaza since a ceasefire shattered hours ago.

That's according to the Palestinian Health Ministry in the enclave, and this resident spoke

about recovery efforts.

We've been pulling the remains of children since this morning.

There are many injuries and martyrs who have reached the hospitals,

and we're still collecting the remains of people, hands and feet.

There was no prior warning.

It all happened unexpectedly, and people were in their homes, not even outside.

Israel's defense minister put out a statement saying the military was carrying out

extensive strikes and said, quote,

Tonight we returned to fighting in Gaza.

Hamas says Israel has unilaterally broken the almost two-month-long ceasefire, while Israel says

Hamas was repeatedly refusing to release hostages or accept negotiation offers.

But the mother of one of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza has condemned the strikes.

She accused Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyanyahu of choosing, quote, cheap politics

over the people being held captive.
