Today we're talking about something that affects every single one of us. It's the stories that we tell ourselves.

0:06.2

You know the ones I mean. I'm not good with money or I'm always the one who messes things up or I'll never be organized or I attract the wrong people.

0:26.9

We all have these internal narratives that quietly or sometimes loudly shape our choices,

0:32.3

our confidence, and our entire outlook. Today, we're not just going to talk about these stories.

0:37.2

We're going to learn how to rewrite them in under 10 minutes a day. But before we get started,

0:38.0

I want to tell you.

0:46.1

Okay, let's get into it and learn how to rewrite these stories. So did you know that 95% of your thoughts today are the same ones you had yesterday? Seriously, here's the kicker. Most of these

0:51.0

thoughts are negative. I'm going to say it again. Most of what's running through your

0:55.1

mind on repeat every day is recycled fear, doubt, criticism, and outdated beliefs. It's no wonder we

1:01.2

feel stuck. If 95% of your thoughts are recycled and most of them are negative, why are we

1:07.1

surprised when we keep getting the same results? The good news is you can interrupt the

1:11.5

pattern and it starts with one 10-minute practice. Seriously. I was driving to an appointment just last

1:17.6

week and I caught myself thinking this. I'm always running behind. And then it hit me. I've been telling

1:23.4

myself that same story for like 26 years ever since I had my first baby. Even on days when I'm

1:28.6

totally on time, my brain automatically goes there because I've worn that groove in my brain so deep.

1:35.8

The truth is, our brains aren't trying to sabotage us. They're trying to protect us. But that so-called

1:40.8

safety is keeping us small, and it's time we broke free. Because here's the

1:45.7

truth. You aren't your patterns. You are not your past. And your brain is capable of learning a new way

1:51.4

of thinking and living. I once worked with a woman, we'll call her Sarah, to protect her identity,

1:56.9

who was stuck in the story of I'm not good enough. Her boss never affirmed her. Her parents never believed in her dreams. And somewhere along the line, she started believing that too. Then one day she said, Allie, I just don't think I have what it takes to be successful. I'll tell you, she said that to the wrong person. So I asked her, when did you decide that? And she looked at me and she said,

2:19.5

I don't know. I guess I've always felt that way. And that's the danger of old stories. If we repeat

2:25.3

them long enough, they just stop sounding like stories and they start feeling like the truth.
