0:07.0	podcast. And the title of this is really Listen Part 2, or how to sharpen your listening
0:12.4	and discernment. How to sharpen your listening and discernment. Last week, I shared a message
0:17.0	out of Matthew 17 that laid a very broad framework for listening and discerning.
0:23.6	And as I said, this is one of the most important areas for any leader, any Christian, but
0:28.1	especially for us in leadership, because when we listen poorly or incorrectly, the impact and
0:35.0	the ripple effect is just large.
0:36.9	And in that text in Matthew 17, we observed Peter, who was just not listening.
0:43.1	He had a plan once he saw the glory of Jesus up there with Elijah and Moses on the mountaintop.
0:50.0	And so he gives Jesus advice.
0:51.6	He makes a plan.
0:53.0	He attempts to do really a right thing for Jesus,
0:56.0	at least by his own ideas, but he's way off.
0:59.4	And he's not in charge about God's kingdom and the pace of how it's going to unfold.
1:06.1	And so instead of waiting and listening, he's out there making plans.
1:10.9	And so God the father rebukes him and says basically to him, listen to Jesus.
1:17.8	And I just love that.
1:19.3	It's listen to him because listening to Jesus is more important than anything else we do as leaders, any program, any project, anything that we're involved in.
1:28.1	And really, leadership can rightly be said, it's not first doing things for Jesus.
1:32.7	It's first listening to Jesus speak.
1:34.7	And then we do what he says.
1:37.1	So what I want to do is I want to deepen this and sharpen it for you out of my own, you know, history here.
