| 0:00.0 | Hey guys, welcome back to Inside Anna's Mind podcast, second episode of season five. |
| 0:08.0 | I'm so happy to be back. It was so much fun kind of sharing the first episode back last week and the response was just incredible when you guys hype me up and I don't know it just reminded me that like this |
| 0:22.0 | definitely is the right choice coming back so thanks for being so welcoming in today's episode |
| 0:27.2 | we are going to be talking about running and also setbacks and injuries I've had a few this last |
| 0:33.4 | week and initially I was like well I don't want to make a podcast about running if I'm |
| 0:38.4 | not running at the moment and like super well I'm obviously inspired but I've had a few |
| 0:44.0 | setbacks which can dim your light a little bit it does happen but then I realized |
| 0:49.5 | if I don't talk about setbacks with running now in a few months when I'm all good and you know when you're peaking and training's going well, I'm not going to want to talk about it then and I'm probably not going to be able to remember exactly how I felt in this time. And a lot people do go through these things and it can be quite frustrating and dealing with all those emotions and feelings |
| 1:12.4 | and whatever. So I thought, let's not skip over the fact that this is happening right now and let's |
| 1:19.4 | talk about it. So what's been going on? Basically, I had a half marathon race a week ago and four days before it I dislocated my shoulder. |
| 1:30.3 | Now this was the third time in the year that I had done it and about my tenth time overall. |
| 1:36.3 | Yes, I probably need surgery. |
| 1:39.3 | We are going to really bump up the strength training in terms of my shoulder strength. |
| 1:45.5 | So we're going to try that and then if it does happen again, I am probably going to have |
| 1:49.2 | to think about surgery, but we're going to try with the strength. |
| 1:52.3 | Anyways, it was a really hard few days before the race and I did actually vlog more behind |
| 1:57.5 | the scenes of me processing it on YouTube, which it will be out very soon. And it was really tough. I went through so many different emotions over the four days. Initially I thought, okay, it'll be fine. La-di-da-di-da, you'll be able to do this. You've done this so many times, like you've dislocated your shoulder. You'll still be able to race. And then the next day when I woke up, I was in so much pain. pain. So then suddenly I was like, I'm not going to be able to race. |
| 2:19.3 | Then I saw a physio and they said you would. |
| 2:22.0 | And it was just all of these things. |
| 2:24.0 | However, within this, I learned something really amazing and I thought I'd share it with you. |
| 2:29.3 | Previously, when I would go into races, I would have an expectation that because I've trained and all of those things, |
| 2:37.9 | I would have a really great race. And a great race would mean that I'd feel light on my feet. I wouldn't |
