In this episode, I'm going to discuss the topic of editing blog post.

It is one of the least sexy topics in all of blogging. It is also an area that most bloggers

struggle mightily with. After you have spent six hours researching, writing, and adding visuals to a 2,000-word post, the last thing you

want to do is to have to reread the post two more times to check for typos and grammatical

mistakes. I get it. I'm the same way. In Orbit Media's latest big blogger survey, they asked bloggers about their editing process.

The four responses in their main question about editing were,

I edit my own work, I show it to a person or two,

I use an editor, and I use more than one editor.

If they used one or more editors, then the bloggers were considered to be having a formal

editing process.

In 2014, there were only 12% of all bloggers that were using a formal editing process.

This past year, that number had doubled. Today, almost a quarter of all bloggers have a formal editing process in place.

With that being said, the vast majority of over 75 percent of bloggers have an informal editing process.

Of the informal editing bloggers, 46% edit their own work and 30% show it to a person or two before

publishing their post. The survey also found that bloggers with a formal editing process were getting strong results from their post. The survey also found that bloggers with a formal editing process

were getting strong results from their post 40% more often than the bloggers with an informal

editing process. The obvious takeaway here is that a blog post reviewed by an editor is going to be

mistake-free and easier to read.
