What's going on fall gardeners? Hope you are doing well and today we are continuing in our journey through the world of carrots.

There's a lot to say about these bad boys one of of my favorite, favorite things to grow, because it's just so satisfying,

to pull, root crops are satisfying, you pull them out of the ground, it feels amazing in your hand,

and you feel so accomplished by seeing what you could not see while they were growing.

You get to pull them up and see if you succeed or if you failed and I've had both in my life

and hopefully we can guide us all towards having more successes rather than failures in our

carrot beds. Okay so today we're talking about the planting and growing and

then in tomorrow's episode we're going to talk about pretty much every problem

you could ever have when you're growing carrots. So planting. When do you

plant carrots? Well it takes about 12 weeks if you listen to some of the types that we talked about, it's at least 12 weeks. So that's going to be about 85-ish days for most varieties. Like I said, some are in that 60, some are in that 120, but a good

average is going to be 85 days, although of course, depending on the type you choose, you definitely

need to make note of those days to maturity.

So here's how you plant them.

Most gardeners get two crops a year.

They're going to get one planted in the spring and they're going to get one planted in the spring

and they're going to get one planted in the fall.

Obviously it's fall if you're listening to this episode upon release, so that's what we're

talking about.

So before you plant you want to consider how long your weather's going to be optimal for growing carrots.

If your soil is too cold, it slows down the carrot growth and they're actually going

to conserve their natural sugars to sustain the plant throughout the winter and then frost is actually a real risk to

the carrot greens. However, at least in my area, heat is equally a problem because two hot temperatures will cause carrots to go to seed in a frantic
