In this devotional episode of Dad Tired, Jerrad walks through the story of Abraham and Sarah in Genesis 18, where Abraham welcomes the Lord into his home with reverence, urgency, and hospitality.

Abraham creates an environment where God is honored and welcomed, but what’s striking is that God comes to speak directly to Sarah. As husbands, dads, and men, this passage invites us to ask a simple but powerful question: are we creating homes where the presence of God is welcomed?

This episode will challenge you to think about the spiritual atmosphere of your home, and what it could look like to intentionally make space for worship, Scripture, prayer, and the Holy Spirit in everyday family life.

let's jump in. I want to do a little bit of a Bible study with you guys this morning, and I believe that through this passage of scripture that we're going to study, that it will help you as a husband, if you're a dad, if you're a husband, if you're a man. I think this passage is going to be really applicable for you today. All right, So we're going to read a big chunk of passage here. It's in Genesis chapter 11, and we'll start in verse one. It says this, and the Lord appeared to him, him being Abram, by the oaks of Mamry, and he sat at the door of his tent and the heat of the day. He lifted up his eyes and looked and behold, three men were standing in front of him.

1:33.5

And when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth and said,

1:37.3

O Lord, if I have found favor in your sight, do not pass by your servant.

1:42.0

Let a little water be brought and wash your feet and rest yourselves under the tree,

1:44.3

while I bring a morsel of bread that you may refresh yourselves, and after that you may pass on since you have come to your servant. So they said,

1:50.4

do as you said, and Abraham went quickly into the tent to Sarah and said, quick, three sea as a fine

flower, knead it and make cakes, and Abraham ran to the herd and took a calf, tender and good, and gave it to a

2:02.1

young man who prepared it quickly. Then he took curds and milk and the calf that he had prepared, and he said it before them, and he stood by them under the tree while they ate. They said to him, where is Sarah, your wife? And he said, she is in the tent. The Lord said, I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your

2:18.3

wife will have a son. And Sarah was listening at the door behind them. Now Abraham and Sarah

2:23.4

were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. So Sarah laughed to herself,

2:28.7

saying, After I am worn out and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure? The Lord said to Abraham,

2:33.3

why did Sarah laugh and say,

2:34.8

shall I indeed bear a child now that I am old? Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you about this time next year and Sarah will have a son, but Sarah denied it, saying, I did not laugh, for she was afraid and he said no, but you did. Okay, I know that was a long passage. We're actually teaching through the life of Abraham at our church. Caleb and I, my pastor, were studying this passage a couple weeks ago, and something stuck out to us as we were reading this. Abraham has been promised that he will have a son, he and his wife. They've waited decades and decades for this promise to become true, and it has yet to become true. And so here they are

in their old age, nearing 100 years old, and God has not fulfilled his promise yet. And all of a sudden,

3:13.6

God shows up. We believe this passage is saying that God showed up with angels. And Abraham clearly
