You were made for eternity, but many of us live as though this moment is all there is.

That's spiritual schizophrenia and it's killing us.

It's really sad.

How many people, including myself at times, live in the schizophrenic craziness

of eternity amnesia. Forgetting that God actually built us, not just for this life. If anything,

this is the short introduction to life that is truly life. Eternal, lived in the presence of God forever.

We were built by God to live with a long view of life.

We were designed to have one eye on what's going on right now and one eye fixed on eternity.

Reminds me of like, you've ever seen those chameleons

where they have independently moving eyes

and one eye is over here and one eye is up over here?

And that's how we ought to be living as Christians.

One eye on the here and now and one eye on eternity.

You and I simply can't live as if we were not

built for eternity. It doesn't work, but so many people try. And sometimes in the craziness and in the

drama of the moment, we live like this is all that matters. And then we end up loading people with expectations that they can never deliver.

And we live moment after moment thinking that people or positions or possessions or locations

or that new house or that new job or that new dream that I have is going to deliver

paradise to me and it's going to give me peace and I'm finally going to know my place in this world

and it never works because our ultimate place, our ultimate identity is all designed around the idea that we were made for

eternity. It's good to have a heavenly marriage, but it's not ever going to be pure paradise.
