I want to talk to you about how to kill idolatry. Are you wondering if there is an area of your life that is ruled by idolatry?

Do you want to rule over those idols? Is there something in your life where you're like, this may be an idol?

What even is idolatry?

All throughout the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, we see people struggling with the sin of idolatry all over and over and over and over again.

And what is it? It is simply loving something more than Jesus.

And the New Testament, it's a little less like overt. It's kind of more hidden.

There's stories like the rich young ruler who doesn't even know that his possessions and his money

is an idol to him. There's situations like the Pharisees who didn't even know that his possessions and his money is an idol to him. There's situations

like the Pharisees who didn't really know that their acclaim and how people saw them and the

praise that they got from people for being, quote unquote, holy was idolatry. In Romans

1, 21 through 25, Paul talks about us.

He talks about people all over the world,

ever since the first people, Adam and Eve,

how they have chosen to worship the creation

instead of the Creator, how they've thrown God out of the mix

and say, I just want his stuff.

How do you know if you even have an idolatry problem?

I love what Martin Luther says. He says that anything that we look to and say, I need that in order
