Summary

Fun, joy, and pleasure should come naturally to us, right? But if your brain is anything like mine, they may not come that easily. Patriarchy and our socialization can make pleasure, joy, and relaxation hard to access, and these are things that I really want us all to experience more of this summer.

This August inside the Clutch, we’re hosting Feminist Summer School where we’ll have special bonus trainings and challenges focused on fun, joy, and pleasure from a feminist thought work perspective. If you want to join in the fun, you have to join the Clutch by July 31. Text your email address to +1 347 934 8861 or visit unfuckyourbrain.com/summer to join us.

We discovered what I affectionately call nerd camp, which was basically like college courses for high school students.

0:50.0

It was called C-T-Y, the Center for Town, did youth, I'm sure some of you also attended.

0:54.3

And it was basically like summer school, but it was like going to college.

0:57.5

Like you got to go to a campus, you lived there for three weeks, and you went to classes during the day,

1:02.6

and then did all the dumb things that teenagers do when they're, you know, mostly alone together at night.

1:08.3

And I fucking loved it. It was like the best thing for me.

1:12.3

It was amazing to feel independent, be away from home, have that little taste of the college experience,

1:17.1

and to be around other smart, weird, nerdy kids.

1:19.8

So I've always had a soft spot in my heart for summer school, you know,

1:23.3

and I think summer school can be fun and incredible and intellectually challenging.

1:28.0

And for me, it was a chance to hang out with other people who were more like me

1:33.7

than a lot of the people that I went to school with and to have like freedom and adventure

1:38.4

while also learning really cool, you know, in-depth things that I didn't learn in school.

1:44.8

So that is all to say. I will never probably do a clutch summer camp, but we are doing something

1:52.5

called feminist summer school inside the clutch during the month of August this year.

1:58.1

This is a brand new experience, and I'm so excited about it.

2:02.9

We are going to be doing special bonus trainings all month and August
