Summary

Years ago I put out a mini-episode on this topic, and on a whim decided to put it on the YouTube channel too. Clearly, complainers were a hot-button issue, because it became one of the top-performing videos on my channel, even though it was just audio. I wanted to revisit the issue, because I don't think ghosting them, ripping into them, or enabling them are solid ways of helping them (or ourselves). Here are my thoughts; I'd love to hear yours. DM me @mantalks on Instagram. Are you looking to find purpose, navigate transition, or fix your relationships, all with a powerful group of men from around the world? So years ago, I put this video on YouTube.

0:03.0

It was actually from the podcast.

0:05.0

It was just audio of me talking about chronic complainers.

0:09.0

And it's one of the highest ranked videos on my channel so far.

0:14.0

And so I thought I would revisit it because it was so interesting to read the comments.

0:18.0

There was like hundreds and hundreds of comments on this video.

0:26.7

And it's so funny to hear people's opinions, you know, when it comes to people that are complaining, right? It's like, ah, just leave them. And you're advocating for being their therapist

0:31.8

and, you know, all this, all this kind of stuff. And so I kind of wanted to do a 2.0 because

0:36.5

clearly some of you, some of us,

0:39.3

have some real issues with chronic complainers in our lives, bosses, grandparents,

0:45.1

parents, husbands, wives, you know, you name it. There seems to be no shortage of chronic

0:51.7

complainers in our lives. And I would imagine that over the past couple

0:55.4

years, this has not lessened, right? This has probably gotten worse and worse. So let's just talk

1:02.0

briefly. What is a chronic complainer? The best way that I've heard it described is that an optimist

1:07.3

will see the glass half full, right? The optimist sees what's there and can acknowledge it and is grateful for it, whereas the pessimist

1:16.1

sees the glass half empty and the chronic complainer has a problem with everything, right?

1:22.5

There's a problem with the glass.

1:23.5

There's a problem with how much water is in the glass, the water in the glass, you know, the table that

1:28.7

the glass is on, the person that poured the water. The chronic complainer is really the person

1:33.3

who is complaining about almost every single aspect, right? They are the victim archetype. They're

1:39.6

the ones who have problems and issues with almost everything, except for them, right? They're usually not

1:47.0

part of the problem. They're usually the one that is the victim to the problem, and that's the
