What is going on, everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening Podcast, Kevin

Espiritu here. So we have Jen McGinnis. She is the author of MicroFood Gardening

0:21.3

out April 13th, and she's also the author of the Fraud Zinny Blog, which is a

0:25.0

great blog on ornamental and edible gardening. But today, we are talking about all

0:29.7

of you who grow in small spaces. And remember, I was a very small space gardener at the beginning

0:34.9

of my career, hobby, whatever you want to call that. And Jen, actually, I'm curious, when you

0:40.4

started gardening, were you in a relatively large space, or were you in a pretty small one?

0:45.2

So I grew up with gardening, and I was fortunate to have a small backyard in the city,

0:50.6

but I had a lot of friends who only had access to apartment balconies or, you know, the little

transitionary time for me, but when I went full time on Epic Gardening, I was moving from a

1:19.1

downtown apartment with a West Facing balcony. So at least I had that, but it was one of those

1:24.8

very thin balconies that you could almost not fit your body on. Oh, yeah. So it really existed,

1:29.9

but it wasn't amazing. And then the indoor situation was less something to be desired, but I

1:35.2

moved from there to the old Epic Garden, which was that front yard garden in that semi-urban

1:42.0

space. And so, of course, I had more space there, but that was still only about 15 by 30 feet.

1:46.8

I wouldn't necessarily call that small for the purposes of what we're talking about today,

1:50.6

but I mean, that does bring us to this whole idea of how do I, if I'm listening to this episode,

1:55.6

look at my space and say, okay, well, what can I even do? Sure. Well, I have to say that I'm in a

2:03.2

similar camp. I was able to purchase a home and I do have a garden now, but I found that most of my
