We are joined again for a week on Microfood Gardening with Jen McGuinness.

So that's the name of her new book, Microfood Gardening out April 13th.

She's also the author of the Fraud Zinny blog where she shares a lot of ornamental and

edible gardening tips and adventures and experiences.

But Jen, you know, we were talking about Microfood Gardening just sort of what it is.

But I would imagine that would require either unique containers or a special approach

to containers or sort of scrounging up containers.

And so can you talk a little bit about how do you get started Microfood Gardening because

you got to put the plant in something?

Sure.

So one of the fun things about creating this book was coming up with a lot of ideas of

how to repurpose a common item that might not normally be thought of as a plant container.

I really like to feature items that were from the kitchen, especially such as the project

that's strawberry cake stand.

In that case, I took the cake pans that you would normally bake a cake in and transform

them into a standing cake stand similar to what you would see at a wedding cake display.

But instead of cake with icing, you have alpine strawberry plants, which in my opinion

is way cooler.

Dramatically cooler, dramatically cooler.

So the book does cover how you can grow these smaller plants in traditional containers,

such as window boxes or hanging baskets or even terracotta pots.
