When I was growing up, teachers and other adults always commented on how nicely she dressed.

Oh yeah, I used to get compliments. I still do quite a bit.

It was really important to her to dress well. My mom is from Alabama and she says,

down south, first impressions mean a lot.

People can tell when you put yourself together, you take time to do that and that makes a big

difference in how people interact with you. It was also important to her that I dressed well.

How did you describe my style?

I don't really know.

But I don't think I got the memo.

Okay, so maybe I didn't inherit the stylist gene per se.

But I think it's more that my style is really fluid. I contain multitudes.
