how to create meaning in your painting. I've been thinking about this all week because I was

reading through a Facebook post last week and an artist was talking

about this and it just got me thinking about it and I want to offer you what may be a different way to think about how you bring meaning into your painting.

Artists want to create meaningful work, work that has an impact that makes the person who sees it either feel something or makes them think or shifts their

perspective a little bit. And I think that the most important work that we do as artists is to do that. For me it's about

connection and it's about communication. Art is about making sense of what it means to be human, and then sharing that with other people.

It's kind of like another way to sort of like nudge someone and say, hey, do you see that too?

And that impulse is very similar to what we do as kids.

When we made something we thought was really cool,
