0:00.0	What's up out there, friends? Welcome to another episode of the show. Today's micro show is an exploration of significance. What does it mean to be successful in this day and age, right? It's so often measured by these traditional, these tangibles, right?
0:19.8	Titles or bank accounts or social media followers.
0:23.4	And it's so easy in sort of the wake of all of that stuff to lose sight of what actually
0:29.5	matters, right? Which is what matters is making an impact through our work, right? But what does
0:36.8	it mean to be significant in our careers,
0:39.4	especially for those of us who identify as creators, as entrepreneurs, as builders, who live and
0:46.3	show up every day just to make things? I was inspired by my dear friend Seth Godin. He's got a
0:53.1	great book. He was on the show talking about this. I think it's called the Song of Significance. And he inspired me to think about focusing on contributions and not comparisons. In the age of social media, it's so easy to fall in the trap of comparing our behind the scenes with everybody else's highlight reel. right? We know and experience our day-to-day
1:11.7	lives. And then when we look at these edited lives of everybody else, it messes with your brain,
1:17.8	right? But significance comes from contribution, not this sort of weak-ass comparison stuff.
1:25.5	Your work does not have to be groundbreaking to be significant, right?
1:29.2	It just needs to help others. It needs to contribute value in the way that perhaps only your work
1:36.1	can, right? Whether you're helping one person, 1,000, or a million, the real measure of
1:42.5	significance is the difference you make, the impact that your work
1:46.7	has on someone, on anyone else, right? To call up Simon Sinek, right, he famously said,
1:53.8	start with why. This is where significance in our work actually begins. Why are you showing up every day?

2:02.6	It's not about what you do necessary or how you do it.
2:05.6	I don't care what camera used to take a picture or what, you know, what, what camera you make to shoot your film.
2:11.6	But I care why you're doing it, right?
