I think as overwhelming or as intimidating as a process it can be, it can be life-changing in the grand scheme of things.

I mean, having that extra income to pay down my debt quicker, it wasn't until years after I paid down my debt that I really understood the value of checking that off my list.

It's because I paid down my debt and I didn't pay that money and interest that I was

able to buy my first home. You know, that home is now a rental property. There are things that

happen in sort of the spectrum of your financial future that you might not necessarily be able to

predict, but being able to increase your income is so crucial to that process. And whether that's starting a side hustle or salary negotiation

or what have you, all of those play into that bucket, right? But for me, preparing myself for that

conversation and every year going into that annual review, pushing for whatever I could get,

worst case scenario is it's going to be no. And I did get a know a few times, but I got a lot of

yeses also. And I think it's sort of wild, especially in the beginning to come out of those

conversations being like, wow, all I really had to do was show up and ask. And no one's going

to be a better advocate for yourself.
