Summary

This stuff is in scripture for a reason folks. The issues Jesus had with the Pharisees are the same issues we deal with today. This is how the Pharisees used tradition as a way of missing out on the heart of God and neglecting to obey scripture. There's some really interesting parallels between the Pharisees and Catholicism. The Pharisees had the "Oral Torah" and Catholicism has "Sacred Tradition". This is a verse by verse Bible study through the whole gospel of Mark. 0:07.6	Okay so here we are we're in Mark chapter 7 Mark chapter. We're going to take a big chunk of scripture today,
0:14.5	Mark 7 verses 1 through 23, and let me preface it by saying this. Here in Mark 7, here in the first century
0:22.3	and Jesus encountering these religious leaders, they were doing
0:26.8	it all wrong. They thought they were following God, but some of their religious practices
0:31.6	were not only not following God or not pleasing God,
0:34.8	they were actually offensive to God. The things they thought that God was pleased with were actually
0:41.4	somehow a disguise for them to be rebelling against God.
0:45.0	And I want to say as we're looking at the things going on in the gospel,
0:50.0	we're seeing the same issues that we face today. They look different. We have
0:54.0	different window dressing on our issues, but they're the same issues because people or
0:57.4	people or people, right? Throughout time, we just keep recycling the same life
1:01.4	experiences with different window dressing on it.
1:04.6	So this should apply in our lives very directly.
1:07.2	We're going to learn a lot today about following God's heart, along with other theological and apologetic things as we do this is part
1:15.1	23 of the Mark series and we're in Mark chapter 7 verse 1 through 23 and I'm just
1:21.4	going to read straight through the passage because this is a Bible study, right?
1:25.6	This is, we want to understand, you want to walk out going this section of scripture,
1:29.8	I understand it and I can apply it into my life.
1:32.6	Both of those elements we want to have in place.
