Today's 10 minute walk is helping both of us remain fitness consistent.

Hi, I'm Dave. Let's go for a walk.

My neighbor Mike walks every day.

Actually walks a couple of times every day.

Every time he leaves the house to go for a walk, he gets to the end of his driveway,

and then he looks in both directions.

And he looks up, and then he turns, starts walking, glances to the right,

and then focuses on what's ahead. Now, at the risk of sounding like a stalker, let me explain

that my home office is in the front of our house. I've got a big window so I can see what's

happening in, well, at least my part of the neighborhood and it's a quiet little

neighborhood and so anytime there's movement I'm like oh what's going on and so

when I see the movement of Mike leaving the house I'm like oh what's going oh

Mike's going for a walk I got to thinking about my own habits. If Mike were watching me leave the house

for my walk, what would he notice? What would he see me do consistently every time I take the walk.

And I got to thinking about my routines, my habits, and recognize that while I may not do

the exact same thing that Mike does, I have my own way of starting a walk, my own habits

and routines that I recognize are actually intentional. These habits and these routines are

an intentional part of my my walk every day and that greater

intentionality can actually lead to greater enjoyment of walking and so if you would allow me i'm going to break down what I do when I go for a walk.

Why I do it and why it makes these walks more enjoyable.

So the first thing I do, and Mike wouldn't see this, because this happens in the house before I open the front door.
