Summary

In this episode I'm talking all about getting out of a "flop era" - which is basically a time in your life where things aren't clicking - you may be working hard, and not seeing the results of it. I had a flop era in 2018 and really second-guess if I should even do YouTube at all. It was super stressful at the time and I was losing subscribers. This is how I climbed out of that and was able to, years later, reach my goal of making $1 million in one year. Although I will note, not every year is like that!

Hi guys, welcome back to step by step with me, Shelby Church. Today's episode is going to be

0:11.4

about how I got out of my flop era and how I went basically from like a community college student

0:17.6

to making a million dollars a year, one year. Okay, I don't make that every year,

0:22.3

but one year I did. And so that's definitely a part of the story, a part of getting out of my flop era.

0:28.6

Also want to mention the audio quality is going to be not as good this episode and just a little

0:33.6

life update in general. If you saw the last episode, you saw, I did leave L.A.

0:37.9

Because, well, I had to dog sit actually for Monica. That's why I left. But also, there are wildfires

0:43.7

in Los Angeles right now. I am safe from them. I didn't technically have to evacuate. My place

0:48.8

is far enough away. But the air quality is really bad. I had to come out here anyway, but I did have to really rush to pack

0:56.3

and I forgot to bring my good podcast mic.

0:58.5

So I was really bummed when I realized that in the car right over,

1:01.3

but I think consistency is so key.

1:03.9

And that's something we're going to talk about today.

1:05.4

So I'm recording this episode anyway

1:07.1

with just a lavalier mic.

1:08.9

These are still pretty good quality.

1:10.4

Like I use them for all my

1:11.3

YouTube videos. Obviously, I wish I was using my actual podcast mic, but I think it's okay. We can

1:17.1

have one episode like this. Like, I think we'll survive, right? That's what's going on. I'll probably

1:22.0

be in Palm Springs for a couple more days and then I'm going to head back to LA. I talked about the wildfire a little bit in my last

1:28.3

podcast episode. This is not going to be about that. So I don't know if I want to like go on and on

1:32.5

about it. I've personally been scrolling and seeing so much about it. I almost need a little break now
