How do you tell somebody they need to stop talking negatively about themselves in front of your child

because you don't want your child to think it's okay to talk negatively about yourself?

All right, so they're being self-deprecating?

They are, but it's more than, it's not even self-deprecating because it's not like cracking

a joke at your expense or whatever.

It's literally lamenting about the way she looks and about her weight.

And she's constantly coming down on herself.

And again, not in a self-deprecating manner, but more of a, God, I look so fat in this, or looking at pictures.

If we're looking at pictures and like, you know, I hate, I hate looking at pictures of me because of the way I look.

But she's saying these type of things in front of my kid.

And I don't want my kid to think it's okay that you talk about yourself like that.

I've got the same question for a co-worker who I hate when she talks about herself like that.

And she keeps doing it.

So what can I get in on this?

The irony being, I only do it here because I don't do it in front of my kids so they don't

grow up like me. My goal is to make sure my children don't become me when they get older.

That's all of our goals. That's every mother's goal.
