Summary

Hey Gang! Welcome to the Run, Selfie, Repeat podcast! Today, we're talking about how we can feel proud of a race when we fall short of a goal. Let's unpack!

Grab your journal and flesh out these questions:

  • What you’re racing for.

  • What made you want to train for the race in the first place?

  • What motivated you to show up for yourself in training?

  • What does your personal best effort look like?

  • What does success look like?

  • What does failure look like?

  • What can you do the week of your race to set yourself up to give yourself your best?

  • What’s the hydration strategy?

  • What’s the fueling strategy.

  • What’s your pacing strategy?

  • What’s your fun strategy?

  • How can you find the fun when you’re in another world of pain?

Oh, I just took a big sigh. Do you want to sigh with me?

0:06.0

Ah, Kayla, my co-host, I'm poison punch. She introduced me to siging often.

And now I find myself literally every time I sit down with a microphone in front of my

0:16.3

face. I sigh. It cracks me up. Hi everybody! Hi! I bet you're like, why are you telling

0:23.6

me this? I'm Kelly Roberts. And this is the RunSolvie repeat podcast.

0:28.6

Are we talking about life? Life with a side of running. Can you believe how long we've

0:33.5

been doing this? Someone recently asked me, I think it was on Instagram. They commented,

0:38.2

do you do a podcast? And I wanted to be like, do I have a podcast? Oh girl, I've had a podcast

0:45.6

forever. I've had a podcast, I was podcasting before podcasting was cool. I remember I got

0:51.6

a Yeti mic on Amazon and the next day I went out to the garage because I was staying with

0:56.8

my parents. It was winter and I was hiding from winter in New York City and I was in San

0:59.9

Diego. And I banged out five episodes. And then I read an article online that said, it

1:07.5

takes about a week, possibly longer, for Apple to accept your podcast. So once you submit

1:12.0

it, it's going to take a while. And like an hour later, I got a welcome to podcasting.

1:17.6

And there it was. It was live. And then the next day it was on the hot new list and it

1:21.2

was off to the races. What a time it's been. But it's, okay, I'm telling you this for

1:27.2

a reason. I'm not the one. I am just kind of sort of feeling nostalgic because we've come

1:31.5

so love. We've come so far. So far. So, so, so far. And this week, this week, a little

1:39.6

lemon has a brand new running shoe coming out for women. And I got to go to the event

1:43.8

because, you know, what I do, and I have amazing friends in my corner who are always advocating

1:49.7

for me. And it was so interesting because we were talking after the event. And I was,

1:54.0

and I was, and I was like, God, pre pandemic, I avoided this sort of stuff like the plague
