0:36.0	So there's a lot of misinformation in myths about the algorithms.
0:39.7	And I'm just going to kind of like break down at this level why they exist. So I started in social media in 2005, MySpace or Friends stir it. So at that
0:45.4	time, there was 25 million people on MySpace, 6 million on Facebook, 8 million on YouTube. So it's a
0:52.9	far cry from what it was today. And then 2010, it jumped
0:56.2	to about 2 billion, 2015, 3 billion, 2020, 4 billion. Today it's about like 5 billion,
1:03.4	just in rough numbers. So obviously, as more people came on to the scene, more content was
1:10.0	being produced. And the social media algorithms didn't
1:12.1	exist in the beginning. They weren't there. Social media was very simple and straightforward for the
1:16.4	first five years. You get somebody to follow or connect with you. You post content and people see it.
1:21.8	Pretty simple premise.
1:23.1	The good old days.
1:23.9	Yeah. But when more people are creating more content, these systems had to invent the algorithms.
1:29.3	Why?
1:30.3	Because they needed to prioritize content.
