Hi everyone, welcome back to Bad on Paper Podcast. I'm Becca Freeman and I'm Olivia

Mentor. And today is the third and final episode in our How a Book Get's Made series. And

we are talking all things marketing and publicity with Christina Ariola and Ashley Winsdead, the author

of In My Dreams I Hold a Knife and the forthcoming The Last Housewife. Yes, I actually worked with

Christina at Bustle and as you guys already know, I am a huge fan of Ashley's works. So this was

a super fun conversation. But before we get into that combo, I want to talk highs and lows. Yes,

tell me you're high, Olivia. I feel like I want to do a drum roll. I want to do like a like fireworks

dove release, which wouldn't work audio wise. But visually for me, it would be very special.

The dove release. What if there is so hot in my apartment? What if there were just like a flock

of doves beneath the table? I would I would I would be so impressed. It would we would just have

to stop recording now because I mean it would not get better than that. Okay, so the big news is

that as of like a week ago, I am signed with a literary agent and I'm really excited about it.

Huge congratulations. I remember at the beginning of the year you posted like your goals on

Instagram on a story and like it was just only like get a book agent. Yes, it's so in my room,

I have this huge sheet of paper that sets above my desk and it has all of my major goals for the

year. The vast majority of which we went over in our mid-year goals check-in. And yes, one of those

was to get a literary agent, but I swear I did not see it happening. I mean you can listen to the

episode. I'm really like maybe I don't know, but anyway, things developed in a really interesting

way that I'm super excited about and I love my agent. The process was absolutely hell on earth.

Becca knows it was unique and just absolutely terrifying. I cannot stress enough the amount of

pure terror I had having people read my work which really wasn't in a place that I felt comfortable

with yet, but I feel like I found someone who believes in me, who believes in my work. I respect
