Summary

Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering.

In this episode, I’m joined by comedian Suzi Ruffell. We hear a cat stand up for cows (sort of) and I am given a ‘sting challenge’, which I think you will agree, I totally smash. We have a beetroot quandary and we talk about times (and they do exist) when you can’t eat. WHAT? No. They really can exist.

Here’s the recipe which I roughly followed for the scrambled tofu.

Scrambled Tofu with wilted spinach and roasted cherry tomatoes Creme Egg 'Twisted'

Love this podcast. Support this show through the ACAST supporter feature. It's up to you how much you give and there's noiky. I love eating as much as anything else in the world. But also, it sometimes brings me conflict, shame and all sorts of other things that are rubbish. It's complicated and I think fascinating. This is a conversation with an interesting soul, not just about food, but about gobbling it up, or if you will, hoovery.

And if Susie's answer to my final question doesn't make you hungry,

1:25.3

small heads up, you're dead inside.

1:27.4

I've made you a brunch. It's the morning time. It is. Can I start eating now? Yes, please.

1:32.1

Okay. It's a vegan brunch. It is some avocados, some rooted spinach, some sourdough, which I'm going to put some olive oil on.

And it scrambled tofu. So the kind of the half warning, and then just some roasted tomatoes.

1:47.1

The half warning about the tofu is that it's no, it's a substitute in terms of protein for scrambled eggs.

1:54.1

But it doesn't taste anything like scrambled eggs.

1:57.0

How much would it offend you if I put some chili on that?
