Summary

Welcome to HOOVERING, the podcast about eating. Host, Jessica Fostekew (Guilty Feminist, Motherland) has a frank conversation with an interesting person about gobbling; guzzling; nibbling; scoffing; devouring and wolfing all up… or if you will, hoovering.

This week I’m talking to comedian, journalist and author Viv Groskop. We met in the Riding House Cafe in Fitzrovia, London which we both love but I had totally underestimated how crazily loud it is in there. Always. So it’s loud, but you CAN hear us. We get pretty deep into the cons (in my view) of the diet industry and the misery and insanity of a life of YoYo dieting. Viv has incredible stories of pushing buttons for champagne and meeting Uraguyian plane crash surviving cannibals.

things that are rubbish. It's complicated and I think fascinating. This is a conversation with an interesting soul, not just about food, but about gobbling it up, or if you will, Hoovering.

Hello, thanks so much for listening to the Hoovering podcast. I'm so grateful. I love it, especially when you tell the other people about this, but I don't have any PR, so you telling people that you like it and asking them to listen is the greatest gift.

We met in the Riding House Cafe, which is a bit of a trendy wendy wankhole we both like for breakfast.

And full disclosure, there is a lot of background noise. I've forgotten how relentlessly loud it is in there.

But, but, but, producer Emma has done some great work lessening the background.
