Summary

Our long-running series of long explorations into past ATF activities finally makes it to current day! And what may surprise you are the ways that bad laws, bad assumptions, and deep ignorance continue to cause tension and resentment... in and out of the Bureau. We also finally address the question of what happens to good ATF agents trying to do their duty.

Welcome back to the history of the ATF trilogy.

0:35.8

And this is episode four of the trilogy, even though we're only

0:39.9

doing a overview and we're barely scratching the surface of just a few incidents. This is still

0:45.8

taken a lot longer than I planned. However, I do think that this is important stuff to understand

0:51.2

In episode one, we talked about prohibition as a failed experiment, a catastrophic failure

1:20.4

on a number of levels, 14 years of very destructive failure that was overturned by the people.

1:27.0

Did the proponents of big government learn from this failure?

1:30.3

1:35.3

but it was based on the exact same idea that social problems are solved by government action.

1:42.3

And the strategy was the same, remove the rights of many law-abiding

1:46.2

citizens to address the actions of a few criminals. Then in episode two, we talked about the results of

1:53.6

that. The ATFs pivot from alcohol to firearms as their new primary focus. The 1968 gun control

2:00.3

act was even worse than the NFA, and the ATF's behavior
