I'm afraid there's no new podcast today.

I'm at the airport on my way to Shotshow, where I will have a number of conversations with people

that will probably turn into podcast interviews.

But for now, on the Spotify channel, we're going to be uploading our history of the ATF series.

I believe we're on episode three of the trilogy.

Welcome back to episode three of the history of the ATF.

And we pick up this episode right where we left off episode two,

which was the aftermath of the Waco siege.

The ATF had instigated a botched and bloody raid against the

Branch Divideans, which turned into a brutal FBI siege where military hardware was used against

American citizens, and then, when the smoke cleared, 80 men, women, and children were dead,

mostly burned beyond recognition. I really did not

enjoy working on the last episode very much, but this one is gonna be even worse.

If you are not up to speed on your 90s history, you would probably assume that there would be some significant investigations after this horrific event.

The one at Ruby Ridge and the one at Waco. Various directors would fall on their swords, heads would

roll, there'd be layoffs, prison time maybe, even budgets would possibly be cut. A scandal like

this should have drastically changed the scope and the tenor of United States law enforcement

forever, because what had happened was almost unimaginable.

Do you guys remember the Mel Gibson movie The Patriot?

When that movie really needs to hammer home how evil the British Redcoats are,

it shows a terrifying scene of cavalry officers hurting families into a church building so they can be burned alive.
